Rod Hooper – Winemaker
Rod Hooper is an accomplished winemaker with over 40 vintages to his name. Rod has long held a passion for making quality preservative free and organic wines.
In 1990 Rod undertook a research program at Charles Sturt University, pioneering a technique to produce preservative free wines of the highest quality. This led to Rod establishing his own winery with a focus on making premium organic and preservative free wines under his Macaw Creek and Em’s Table brands.
Rod’s wine making philosophy begins in the vineyard where the least amount of intervention possible is applied to the growing of terroir suited grapes of the highest quality. Dedicated to producing outstanding wines, the grapes at Macaw Creek lend themselves beautifully to producing table wines that are elegant with ripe fruit expression and definitive palate structure.
